Juliette Lewis, singer and actor, was a wild, unstoppable force at the Grog Shop in August, and Cleveland loved it.

Hello
Prior to the concert, I purposely did not listen to any of Juliette Lewis’ music for the sheer purpose of wanting to be surprised. And, was I ever. The music, the show, the band, Juliette, and the audience’s reaction to her were simply amazing and quite intriguing. The crowd was a mix of complete die-hard fans combined with those that were new to the music and curious. Juliette did not disappoint any of us, and we were all magnetically drawn in.

Not entirely sure why, but I had incorrectly anticipated that Juliette Lewis’ music would be dark, somber, mysterious, and painful, but I was wildly incorrectly. Her music is fun, upbeat, loud, crazy, and energetic. Rarely comparing one artist to another because it does not seem fair somehow, I still find myself believing that Juliette partially embodies Janice Joplin. Something about the amped-up, powerful, talented and beautiful scream-singing, forced me to note the similarity.

Like a Bolt of Lightning
In another article, I mentioned that the guys of Nonpoint never stopped moving on stage. Juliette Lewis, though, even more so… Never. Stopped. Moving… Never. As a result, she was wild and uncapturable. (Tons of blurry photos will make my case.) The interesting thing is that she must be in the most amazing shape ever! Consequently, I would like to go on the Juliette Lewis exercise program. Maybe this is the secret. Each day or night, in your own living or work out room, dance like crazy – like everyone is watching, having paid to watch you – to some energetic, fun music. A couple of Juliette’s songs that might be helpful are: American Boy (in my head all week) and her new single Hello Hero.

Juliette Lewis just might be my new hero. There’s something unapologetic about her. She embraces herself, and exudes, “Be who you want to be.” Whatever that might be. Juliette also had a few, pretty awesome things to say.

• At one point she congratulated us for leaving the house to attend the show. She has a point. Why are people staying home all the time? Get out and do something!!!
• Juliette said that kindness means everything; it’s the new revolution. I take that one to heart. With everything that goes on in the world, we each, individually have the opportunity to make an impact within our own lives by just being kind.

Today I sit in front of my PC, banging out words and sentences. Tonight, I will wear a bandana, red eye make-up, flash my dimples, and dance like the whole world can see me. Readers, definitely plan to see Juliette Lewis on this or any future tour because you will walk away feeling alive!
